Which brand bagged more wins at The Grocer Gold Awards?

This year’s biggest winner at The Grocer Gold Awards bagged an impressive four accolades…

In a sector as fiercely competitive as grocery and FMCG, The Grocer Gold Awards are a prestigious marker of quality, innovation, and success within the market.

Now that the 2023 awards have been and gone, let’s take a deep dive into the big winners:

  • The Grocer Gold’s most successful grocery brand.
  • Other Grocer Gold-winning brands.
  • Award-winning career paths.

The Grocer Gold’s most successful grocery brand

At The Grocer Gold Awards ceremony which, this year, was held in the iconic Royal Albert Hall, one brand was celebrated across more categories than others.

After a tough 12 months of price inflation and steep competition for consumer loyalty… It was none other than Big Four mainstay Asda that took home the most gold!

The Grocer 33 Price Award, which Asda has now won 26 years in a row!

The awards in general aim to recognise outstanding achievement in the areas of service, initiative, and overall commitment to the FMCG industry. Asda, clearly, embodied all three, and earned itself four top honours as a result:

  • Own Label Range of the Year, for the budget-friendly Asda Just Essentials range.
  • Consumer Initiative of the Year, for the Kids Eat for £1 Café Meals.
  • Online Supermarket of the Year, for its continued commitment to growth.
  • The Grocer 33 Price Award, which Asda has now won 26 years in a row!

Other award-winning brands

Beyond Asda’s accolades, there were another 30 awards handed out.

It was a great night for the sector as a whole, with 28 recipients receiving well-deserved recognition. This included big prizes for more of Britain’s biggest supermarket brands.

Tesco, the supermarket with the biggest market share, bagged three awards, including Sustainability Initiative of the Year and eCommerce Initiative of the Year. Meanwhile, Sainsbury’s picked up The Grocer 33 Availability Award, and Store Manager of the Year went to Laura Smith of Sainsbury’s Upton. This year’s Grocer 33 Service Award went to Waitrose for the third year running. The prize for Employer of the Year went to Aldi, AKA the UK’s favourite supermarket.

But it was Marks & Spencer that was crowned Grocer of the Year – and for the first time in the brand’s history!

“Against the backdrop of soaring price inflation, this premium grocery retailer is achieving miracles…”

Let’s give it up for the rest of the 2023 winners:
